I've read a couple very very similar books which didn't bother me since it's a fascinating premise each time it's done. However, The Haven was not quite as cohesive as those others and I was disappointed by the often jumbled and confusing plot and inconsistent characterization, especially nearer to the end. I actually really enjoyed the story but the execution fell short of what it could have been.
